In recent years, the Honourary Toonik award has gone to an individual in the community on a nomination basis. This award is still a special honour as the chosen individual is someone that is considered to be an outstanding volunteer and demonstrates exceptional community spirit.

Jane Tagak is another lady who has lived and worked with the kids from Iqaluit and have contributed much to them.
I think Mary Ellen Thomas would be a good choice! she does a lot of volunteer work for our community. Ed Picco is another choice of mine that I feel deserves recognition for all the volunteer work he does with the fund raising activities of the Anglican Church.
